But we love Duckie! We really do! And you weren't the only one about ready to call it quits after 2007. I almost gave up on Saturday of 2007 - the only reason I didn't was I knew what that would do to the rest of the staffers who'd be forced to fill in for me.

I think all the prep done for 2008 really showed in how smoothly it went. I'd been saying it for years - when you plan for everything you CAN plan for you can deal with all the crap that appears later on. We know the crap happens & can't be planned for, but if we're not already stressed out it's SO much easier to handle.

I was one of the 10 staffers or so in 1998 that Brian & Thomas laugh about. Jess & I started that year in NetOps (a department that disappeared pretty quickly) and merged officially into TechOps in 1999. 1998 was when GWAR was in the Grand Ballroom (yup, the one with the super low ceilings) & several tracks & dealer's room were in the Apparel Mart. Things have surely changed & only for the better!

And boy do I agree with the WEIRDNESS of having all these folks you don't know from Adam knowing your name & face & doing whatever you tell them to do. I'm not sure I'll ever get used to it, but it DOES come in handy when you don't have time to explain why you want something done & just need it done immediately.
